Unleashing cooperation opportunities for EU researchers in South Africa - January 2012

Expert researchers, programme owners and other stakeholders from South Africa will visit four European countries (Germany, UK, France and the Netherlands) to promote cooperation opportunities and to strengthen SA research collaboration with EU counterparts in specific thematic fields.
There is a rich and diverse portfolio of South Africa – EU S&T cooperation engagements.
- South Africa’s position as one of the leading third country participants in the Framework Programme has been cemented by the excellent FP7 results.
- The South Africa – EU S&T Cooperation Agreement, especially facilitated by the annual meetings of the South Africa – EU Joint S&T Cooperation Committee, led to a strong S&T policy dialogue over the years.
- South Africa’s strong involvement in other EU-related S&T cooperation programmes such as COST, EUREKA or the Competitiveness and Innovation Framework Programme. South Africa also hosts the Africa Office Secretariat of the European Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP.)
- Bilaterally, South Africa’s flourishing S&T partnerships with EU Member States and countries associated to the Framework Programmes.
This mission is aimed at offering information about existing South African research and innovation opportunities for collaboration with European stakeholders.
The mission capitalises and further builds on the existing strong collaboration SA has with European countries.
This mission is organised as a joint venture supported by SAccess and ESASTAP.
